About Ian
Ian is a serial internet entrepreneur and individual investor.
Ian enjoys downhill skiing at Sugarbush and Stowe and boating on Lake Champlain. He is an avid collector and drinker of wines, primarily from the Willamette Valley of Oregon, since his parents introduced him to world class Pinot Noir. He also enjoys cooking and eating well, frequenting outstanding restaurants including Café Milano and Cashion’s in Washington DC, and The Kitchen Table Bistro, Hen of the Woods, and Sonoma Station in Vermont.
Born in Vermont in 1980, and raised in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and Beloit, Wisconsin, Ian briefly attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs for a year before moving to the nation’s capital and founding an investment publishing company.
Ian founded Business Financial Publishing in 2001 as a publisher of investment newsletters for individual investors. Since then, the company has evolved into an advertising supported internet content company publishing e-letters, special reports, newsletters, trading services, and financial web sites for individual investors. The company currently reaches 1.3 million individual investors weekly through its free e-letters. Business Financial Publishing was named #185 on the 2008 Inc. Magazine Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing companies in the United States, achieving 3-year growth rate of 1,303%.
Ian is a recognized expert on small cap stocks, writing for his company’s web site SmallCapInvestor.com, and serving as the editor and chief investment strategist of several investment newsletters. He has spoken at The Money Show, and is a regular contributor to Marketwatch.com. Ian is currently writing a book focused on helping individual investors generate market outperforming returns by investing in small growth companies.
Ian lives in the Green Mountains of Vermont and in Washington, DC with his wife Carrie, their two cats Almost and Pants, and their Chocolate Lab puppy named Pinot.
